Four Public Information Centres (PICs) have been arranged for the public to discuss the project and provide input to the project team. We encourage you to attend these PICs to become informed about this study and provide your views and perspectives on the information presented.

PIC #1

PIC display material is now available.

PIC #1 Roll Plans

The Highway 11 Project Team held Public Information Centre (PIC) #1 in mid-February. PIC #1 focused on the Project Team’s assessment of the need and justification for improvements, as well as the assessment of the Alternatives to the Undertaking (i.e. fundamentally different ways of addressing the identified transportation needs such as improving transit, improving other roadways, etc.). In addition, the first PIC presented the types of alternatives to be considered schematically, and the proposed evaluation method for evaluating the alternatives.

The PIC was conducted as a drop-in format and was scheduled as follows:

PIC #2 Roll Plans Preferred Widening Option with Interchange Alternatives The Highway 11 Project Team held Public Information Centre (PIC) #2 in September 2010. PIC #2 focused on the generation of Highway 11 widening / service road, realignment, and interchange alternatives, the assessment and preliminary evaluation of Highway 11 widening / service road and realignment alternatives, and a plan illustrating the preliminary results of the assessment work completed.

The PIC was conducted as a drop-in format and was scheduled as follows:

In addition, a brief presentation was provided at 5:30 p.m. to provide a study overview.

Using input received at PIC #2, the Project Team will finalize the evaluation of widening alternatives, assess and evaluate the interchange alternatives, and evaluate the preferred widening alternative against the preferred realignment alternative to select the recommended alternative. Finally, the Project Team will complete a network assessment of all recommended segments to ensure acceptable transitions / connectivity along the corridor. PIC #3 is anticipated to be held in Spring 2011 where the recommended Highway 11 improvement strategy will be presented.

PIC #3 Roll Plans

The Highway 11 Project Team held Public Information Centre (PIC) #3 in February 2011. PIC #3 focused on the evaluation of alternatives and a preferred plan that summarized the results of the assessment and evaluation of alternatives for the entire Highway 11 corridor within the study area.

The PIC was conducted as a drop-in format and was scheduled as follows:

In addition, a brief presentation was be provided at hourly intervals to provide a study overview.

Notices regarding PIC #3 were published in local newspapers and distributed via letters and emails to the external agencies and individuals on the study contact list.

Using input received at PIC #3, the Project Team will finalize the preliminary design of the preferred alternative and proposed measures to minimize potential environmental impacts.

PIC #4

The fourth and final Public Information Centre (PIC #4) was held to present and receive input on the preliminary design of the recommended plan, potential impacts and mitigation measures, interim improvements, and future commitments to be undertaken at later stages.

Stakeholders were encouraged to attend the PIC and to provide the Project Team with comments on the material presented so that they could be addressed in the Transportation Environmental Study Report that is now available for review in the Reports page.
